Redmine's role setting for issue visibility offers three choices, and the
narrowest means author or current assignee — nothing else. So the moment you
hand a ticket to a colleague it disappears from your view, including the
comments you wrote on it. This adds a fourth choice where involvement counts:
Issues the user is or has been involved in. Handovers, reviews and "I fixed
this last month" stop breaking.
On your own Redmine
Requirements
- Redmine 6.0 or newer (Rails 7.2, Ruby 3.1 or newer)
- PostgreSQL 14+, or MySQL 8.0+ / MariaDB 10.6+
- No additional gems
Install
cd /path/to/redmine
cp -r redminepro_visibility_role plugins/
RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rake redmine:plugins:migrate NAME=redminepro_visibility_role
# restart Redmine
Standalone behaviour
Identical. No plan gate applies and there is no module.
Update and remove
Copy the new directory over the old one, run the migrate command, restart.
Before removing it, move every role off the new option — a role left on a visibility value the software no longer provides is a role whose visibility is undefined. Then:
RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rake redmine:plugins:migrate NAME=redminepro_visibility_role VERSION=0
rm -rf plugins/redminepro_visibility_role
# restart Redmine
