Redmine hosting comparison 2026: every provider, real prices

Who wrote this, and why you should still read it

RedminePRO is one of the providers on this list. We built the list anyway, because the only two comparisons that exist in this market were written by vendors who put themselves at the top, and neither of them lists half the market.

So here is the deal we've made with you. Every table on this page is sorted by price, ascending, and we sit wherever the arithmetic puts us. Where a competitor is cheaper than us, the table says so and the text says so. Where a competitor covers a use case we don't, there's a paragraph explaining it. If you find a figure here that is wrong or out of date, tell us and we'll fix it — the whole value of this page is that it's right.

Every price comes from the provider's own public pricing page, fetched in July 2026. We don't use aggregator data, we don't estimate, and we don't convert currencies. Where a provider publishes in euros, the table shows euros.

Every managed Redmine host, entry price

Sorted by published entry price. The column that matters is not the price — it's what the price buys.

Two footnotes on accuracy. RedmineUP's pricing page carries a stale line reading “Montly plans starts at 29$/month” above its own table of $69 and $83; the table figures are the current ones and are what we've used. Redmine-X's page states 10 GB in the Advanced plan bullets and 25 GB in the comparison table on the same page; we've used the table figure and flagged the ambiguity. What 10, 25, 50 and 100 users actually cost

Every provider publishes a price. None of them publishes this. For each team size we've taken the cheapest tier from that provider that genuinely covers that many users — not the headline tier, the one you'd actually have to buy.

Monthly equivalents. Redmine-X sells annually only; its figures are the annual price divided by twelve. Easy8 figures are seats × €6.90 at the Essentials rate, billed annually, with a 10-seat cloud minimum. Planio's 25-user figure is Platinum because Diamond caps at 20 users; its 50- and 100-user figures are Enterprise because Platinum caps at 45. SaaS-Secure's tiers cover 10 (Team), 30 (Pro) and up to 75 (Enterprise), per-seat above that. RedmineUP figures are the annual rate. RedminePRO and SaaS-Secure re-verified 29 July 2026; all others 28 July 2026.

Who actually wins at each size

Under 10 users, on price alone: SaaS-Secure. Their €9.99/mo entry tier is the lowest published price in managed Redmine hosting, and nothing else in this table gets close. If entry price is the only variable you're optimizing, start there.

At 25 users: RedminePRO at $29, SaaS-Secure at €28.99. Those two are effectively level, and we are not going to convert currencies to manufacture a winner — their Pro tier covers 30 users, ours covers 25. After that the gap opens: RedmineUP Cloud is $69, and Planio's Gold tier stops at 10 users and Diamond at 20, so 25 users on Planio means Platinum at €199.

At 50 and 75 users: SaaS-Secure is the lower published number. Their Enterprise tier is €54.99 for up to 75 users; our Plus plan is $79 for up to 100. We are not the cheapest at these sizes on the published figures, and the honest comparison is what each price covers rather than which number is smaller.

At 100 users: RedminePRO, at $79. My Redmine is next at $100 flat, and SaaS-Secure lands around €79.74 once its per-seat top-up applies. Everything else is €283 or more.

At 500 or more users: My Redmine, at $100/mo for up to 1,000. We're honest about this one. Above our Business plan's 250-user ceiling, RedminePRO is a custom Enterprise quote, and a published flat $100/mo for a thousand seats is a genuinely good deal that requires no sales conversation. If predictable billing at very large headcount is the whole requirement, they're worth a look.

If you need German data residency with unlimited users: AlphaNodes. €299/mo net, unlimited users and projects, Germany-first, and by far the most detailed pricing page in the category. Their number is high because the offer is unlimited, and for a 500-person German engineering organization that's arithmetic in their favor.

Flat pricing vs per-user pricing

Four providers on this list bill per seat: Easy8, RedmineFlux, Jira (if you're comparing outside Redmine), and Planio in effect, since its tiers step by user count. Five bill flat: RedminePRO, My Redmine, AlphaNodes, Redmine-X and SaaS-Secure up to its seat ceiling.

The difference doesn't show up on day one. It shows up on the day someone in finance asks why the project tool costs more than it did last year, and the answer is “because we hired”. Per-user pricing turns every hire into a line-item decision, and it quietly discourages the thing you actually want — giving read access to the people in support, sales and finance who need to see what engineering is doing.

Flat pricing has the opposite failure mode: you pay for headroom you aren't using. At 6 users, RedminePRO's $29 buys 25 seats you don't have yet. That's the trade. Which one is right depends entirely on whether you expect to grow.

What “managed” should actually include

“Managed” is not a defined term, and the gap between providers is wider than the gap between prices. Before you sign anything, get a written answer on all seven of these:

1. Who applies Redmine version upgrades, and how quickly after release?
2. Who applies security patches to the operating system and the Ruby stack?
3. What is the backup frequency, and can you restore to an arbitrary point in time or only to last night?
4. Where does the data physically live, and can you choose?
5. Can you install a plugin yourself, or do you file a ticket and wait?
6. What does support cost, and is it included at your tier?
7. How do you get your data out — and is that a documented process or an email to sales?

On RedminePRO: upgrades and patching are ours, backups are continuous and encrypted with point-in-time recovery, you pick US, EU or India at signup and your data stays in that region, you get full Redmine admin access on every plan, 24x7 support is included on every plan starting at $29, and you can request your files and database at any time and self-host them.

Admin access and plugin freedom

This is the line that splits the market and almost nobody advertises it, because most providers are on the wrong side of it.

Redmine's value is its plugin ecosystem. There are hundreds of plugins, many free, covering everything from agile boards to invoicing. But on a managed platform, installing one means touching the server — so most providers simply don't let you. Plugin installation on the managed tiers of several providers here is restricted or not customer-controllable; you choose from what the vendor ships.

RedminePRO gives full Redmine administrator access on every plan, including Startup at $29. Hosting and supporting third-party plugins is an Enterprise feature; custom plugins are reviewed case by case. If a plugin matters to your workflow, ask every provider on your shortlist the same question — “can I install this myself on the plan I'm buying?” — and compare the answers.

Data residency and compliance

RedminePRO runs entirely on AWS, in the US, EU or India, chosen by you at signup; your data resides in the region you pick. HAZERCLOUD maintains active ISO/IEC 27001 certification covering its information security management system, and RedminePRO operates inside that certified ISMS. Encryption at rest is AWS KMS with AES-256; in transit it's TLS 1.2 and above. AWS's own data centers hold SOC 1, SOC 2, PCI-DSS and ISO/IEC 27001 certifications. Payments run through Stripe, a PCI Service Provider Level 1 — card data never touches our systems.

If your requirement is German data residency specifically, AlphaNodes and SaaS-Secure are Germany-first operations and that is a reasonable thing to buy on. Ask each provider for their sub-processor list and their DPA before you decide.

Lock-in, and how to test for it

Every provider in this table says “no lock-in”. Not one of them publishes an actual export guide, and that includes, until recently, us.

Here's a test that works. Ask the provider to send you a full copy of your files and database in a format you can restore onto a stock Redmine install. If the answer is a documented process, you're not locked in. If the answer is “contact support” or a CSV export of issues, you are — because issue CSVs lose attachments, journal history, custom field definitions and permissions, which is most of what you actually care about.

RedminePRO is standard open-source Redmine. Not a fork, not a suite built on top. We'll provide your files and database on request and you can self-host them the same week. That is also true of most providers running stock Redmine, and it is materially less true of platforms built as modified suites on a Redmine base, where your data is in their schema.

Where RedminePRO fits

We're the lowest published price in this table at 100 users, level with SaaS-Secure at 25, and not the cheapest at entry or at 50–75 users. We're also not the right answer above about 250 users unless you want a custom arrangement. Startup is $29/mo for 25 users and unlimited projects, Plus is $79/mo for 100, Business is $199/mo for 250 with a 99.9% uptime SLA, and Enterprise is a conversation. Annual billing is exactly ten months' cost, so two months free. Registered non-profits get 30% off the Business plan. Migration from self-hosted Redmine, Jira or another tool is done for you, quoted after a free assessment.
