What it is
Click an attachment's name and it opens in a popup on the page. Images, PDFs and text appear immediately; everything else downloads exactly as it did before. It saves the download-open-delete cycle that every screenshot on every ticket otherwise costs.
On your own Redmine
Requirements
- Redmine 6.0 or newer (Rails 7.2, Ruby 3.1 or newer)
- PostgreSQL 14+, or MySQL 8.0+ / MariaDB 10.6+
- No additional gems, and no tables of its own
Install
cd /path/to/redmine
cp -r redminepro_preview plugins/
# no migrations — this feature owns no tables
# restart Redmine
Standalone behaviour
Identical. No plan gate applies and there is no module.
Update and remove
Copy the new directory over the old one and restart. To remove:
rm -rf plugins/redminepro_preview
# restart Redmine
Every attachment is untouched — it never stored or converted a file, only displayed one.
