Click a value on an issue and it becomes an editor. No edit form, no round trip, no losing your place halfway down a long ticket. Every change is an ordinary issue update underneath: the same permissions, the same workflow rules, the same validation and the same history entry. The point is fewer clicks, not different rules.

Availability
Every plan.
Turn it on
Nothing to turn on and nothing to configure. It is available on every issue to everyone whose permissions already let them edit that issue.
Permissions
None of its own, deliberately. A field is editable here exactly when it is editable on the issue form — which means the workflow's read-only and required rules apply unchanged, and a field somebody may not set is not offered.
There is no role-form section, because there is nothing to grant.
Settings
None.
Using it
- Open an issue.
- Click a value — status, priority, dates, percentage done, estimated time, the
subject — and edit it in place.
Savecommits,Cancelabandons. - Fields whose value is a link keep the link: clicking an assignee still opens their profile, so those are edited from the pencil beside them instead. One gesture never means two things.
Assign to meis a single click on the assignee field.Undoreverses the change you just made, as a normal edit — so it journals and notifies like any other.Refreshre-reads the issue if you suspect someone else has changed it.
Custom fields are editable too: text, long text, whole and decimal numbers, dates, yes-or-no, lists of every kind, user, version and link.
The description keeps its full editor. It is long-form text with a toolbar, a preview and attachments, and an inline box would be a worse version of what is already there. Attachment custom fields get no inline affordance at all, rather than an editor that cannot save what it shows.
Troubleshooting
A field will not turn into an editor. Your permissions do not allow editing it on that issue, or the workflow makes it read-only in its current status. The inline editor offers exactly what the form offers.
A status I want is not in the list. The workflow does not allow that transition from the current status for your role. That is the same list the issue form shows.
The change was refused. Either a required field is empty or another person edited the issue first. The message says which, and nothing partial is written.
The description has no inline editor. By design — it keeps the full editor with its toolbar, preview and attachments.
