When an issue reaches a status, hand it to the right person automatically. "A bug moves to testing, the QA lead picks it up", without anyone having to remember. Rules live per project, or in named sets you attach to many projects at once so one edit changes them everywhere.
A rule never overrules a person. If the same change that moved the status also set an assignee by hand, the manual choice stands.
On your own Redmine
Requirements
- Redmine 6.0 or newer (Rails 7.2, Ruby 3.1 or newer)
- PostgreSQL 14+, or MySQL 8.0+ / MariaDB 10.6+
- No additional gems
Install
cd /path/to/redmine
cp -r redminepro_auto_assign plugins/
RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rake redmine:plugins:migrate NAME=redminepro_auto_assign
# restart Redmine
Standalone behaviour
Identical. No plan gate applies. The module is a real one and keeps its checkbox in project settings.
Update and remove
Copy the new directory over the old one, run the migrate command, restart. To remove:
RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rake redmine:plugins:migrate NAME=redminepro_auto_assign VERSION=0
rm -rf plugins/redminepro_auto_assign
# restart Redmine
Rules and sets go. Every assignment they made stays, because each was an ordinary issue update recorded in the history.
